Undergraduate Student Studies Abroad in Montréal

Guinivere Mayse in Montréal

Congratulations to Guinivere Mayse who is currently studying abroad at the Université de Montréal. The NMSU Department of Art deeply values helping our students get hands on experience they can leverage in their future careers and taking advantage of uniqe experiences. Here's what Guinivere has to say about the support she has received at the Department of Art.

"The scholarships awarded to me by the Department of Art have been invaluable to my studies abroad at the Université de Montréal. The funds have supported essential expenses, from airfare to purchasing educational materials, and have also helped cover my tuition fees. This support has not only enabled me to deepen my understanding of French but also exposed me to diverse global perspectives on learning. Through classes in art history, conservation, and history, I am gaining insights into the art world that I would never have experienced at home.

These scholarships have provided me with the opportunity to learn archival and conservation methods at an institution that has contributed significantly to museum best practices. I now have a strong foundation in preservation and understand how to apply it in ways that elevate and protect cultural heritage. Thanks to this experience, I am prepared to contribute meaningfully to museum preservation efforts in New Mexico, aiming to achieve standards well above the minimum requirements.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Without the support of these scholarships, I might have been forced to settle for far less. Instead, my time at the Université de Montréal has empowered me with the skills and insights to pursue excellence and make a lasting impact which is all thanks to the money gifted to me by the Department of Art scholarships as well as the doners who helped fund them."

Thank you, thank you, thank you,

Guinivere Mayse
