The winning entries from the Typography Day 2023 Poster Design Competition for the title ‘The Sacred and Typography’ will be published and displayed in an exhibition during the event.
Pamela writes, “For my Typography Day 2023 poster design, I took inspiration from sacred indigenous symbols from Mexico, particularly from Aztec and Mayan culture. My contemporary design includes recognizable indigenous colors of Mexico, which includes a fiery red that represents life and sun with a blue-green representing sacrifice and eternity. By using the geometric style of traditional indigenous symbols, my typography includes the word “Sacred” and “TypoDay 2023” through important cultural elements. As indigenous Mexican cultures include many sacred figures and cultural symbols, my abstract typography utilizes these linear forms to showcase the influence of sacred indigenous culture on contemporary Mexican design.”
