Mapping the City: A Zine Making Workshop
April 21st, 2023; 4:00-6:00pm
The Zane Bennett Collection Study Room (RM 106) in the University Art Museum
Join us at the NMSU Art Museum for a zine making workshop titled Mapping the City. Zines, short for “magazines,” are self-published artistic and literary booklets that offer a powerful way to directly share our ideas with the world around us. Drop in any time during this event to engage with poetry and collage materials to create a collaborative zine together. We’ll explore ideas of identity and place in a city like Las Cruces and we’ll also have a pop-up mini library of local zines for inspiration.
This workshop is presented by the Critical Approaches to Place initiative. “Critical Approaches to Place: Teaching Narrative Mapping in Southern New Mexico” is a three-year curriculum development and public engagement project organized by collaborators from NMSU’s Geography and English departments.
